Volker Specht earned an engineering degree from the Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg and a degree in patent engineering from Humboldt University in Berlin. He then worked as a patent examiner and patent engineer in the mechanical engineering and manufacturing industries before embarking on a career as a freelance German patent attorney and European patent attorney. For over 15 years, he has worked with numerous German patent law firms and honed his expertise in intellectual property law, including prosecution, defense and appeal before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the German Federal Patent Court, and the European Patent Office.

His technical expertise lies in the area of mechanical engineering, particularly vehicle manufacturing, materials handling, metallurgy, and materials, medical and drive engineering.
